The Dark Knight Rises - Official Trailer #3 [HD]

Between this, The Avengers, and Amazing Spider-Man, this is going to be an incredibly awesome summer of movies for comic book fans. I've already got my tickets for an IMAX 3D showing of the Avengers on Friday. Yay! And as much of a Spider-Man fan as I am (c'mon, I named my first kid after him), I'm more excited about The Dark Knight Rises than ASM. When I watch the trailers for this movie, I get the feeling that I HAVE to see the movie. With Spider-Man, I just really WANT to see it.

An awesome "You're mom is a whore" joke turns into a pretty frank discussion of homosexuality between a group of straight guys and their gay friend. I know this is scripted TV, but it seems like a real conversation. You've got the one really uncomfortable guy, your curious friends, and you actually learn something. Well, I did.



Here's the only version of Twilight I would ever watch.



Here's Lindsay Lohan getting sentenced to 90 days in jail. Her reaction to what the judge is saying is just awesome. Will time in jail do her any good, or will she even serve the entire term? Don't care. At least she was actually punished for BREAKING THE DAMN LAW!



One of my buddies has been sending me info on the new Star Wars TomTom developments, so that's not new to me. But this video showing Vader's recording session is, and it's hilarious.

The first trailer of Red looked kind of cute and quirky. This trailer makes the movie look incredibly awesome. It's kind of like a geriatric version of The Losers, and with the cast assembled (even Ernest Borgnine!) I can live with that.

First Video Dump of the Summer

Gotta throw this in at the top spot. It's the video for Matt Mahaffey/sElf's new song, Could YOu Love Me. He's singing backwards, man. Backwards!



The music really helps the creepiness factor of this video. Apparently it's from a Sherlock Holmes video game, and Watson just disappears and reappears near you. Creepy.



Can't stand the song or the singer, but it really works as a Star Trek video. I'd party with the crew of the Enterprise.



Okay, I've been hearing about Auto-Tune the News for quite a while now, but I've stayed away. I hate auto-tuning, and I just assumed I'd hate it applied to comedy. Oh how wrong I was. Looks like I'll be going back and watching the previous 11 installments.



When I first heard that there was going to be a Green Hornet movie with Seth Rogen, I rolled my eyes and dismissed it. Now the first trailer is out, and it actually looks like it could be pretty fun. As a plus, it's got Christoph Waltz as the villain. As a minus, it's got Cameron Diaz.

FIRST TRAILER FOR RED!!!!! I love Warren Ellis and just about anything he writes. I love Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary Louise Parker and Morgan Freeman. I think the chance to see Helen Mirren portray a retired CIA hit woman is priceless. This movie looks like tons of fun.

Wanted (Movie review)

If you’re not a reader of current comics (or more accurately comics that came out about 5 years ago), you may not know that this movie is based on a 6-issue comic book series by British writer Mark Millar. It gets its basic premise and character names from the series, but that’s about it. In the comics, The Fraternity is a conglomerate of super villains, not assassins. Wesley is based on Eminem, and the Fox is based on Haley Berry. The general premise of the comic is that Wesley’s father is a member of the Fraternity and one of the greatest villains of all time. He’s been killed, and it’s Wesley’s turn to step up in his place, although he has no idea about any of this. So change the word villain to assassin, and you’ve got the movie version.

Regardless of how this movie is or isn’t like its source material, I enjoyed it. The action was great, and pretty much all over the movie, but a bit was a bit derivative. There’s a scene in the textile factory straight out of the Matrix (assuming the Matrix didn’t pull it from somewhere else), but I still enjoyed it. It was different enough to be fun, as fun as mass slaughter can be. I was a little disappointed in the end, with Angelina Jolie and the rest.

The cast was excellently chosen, regardless of who the characters were actually based on (I think Eminem was actually attached to the movie early on). Jolie just gets sexier and sexier, Freeman can almost do no wrong, and while I’m not familiar with James McAvoy, he was great as Wesley.

I’m pretty sure I’ve read talk of a sequel, but I don’t see it. It would have to be totally different. We’ll see. Nick Cage is starring in the next big-screen adaptation of a Mark Millar joint, Kick-Ass. This mini isn’t even completed yet and it’s already got a cast put together.

This is a great movie for any action fans. Comic books fans should understand that it’s not by any stretch true to the source material. But that doesn’t make it a bad movie. Far from it.
