Memorial Day Weekend Video Constitutional

Here's the teaser for the next season of True Blood.

The the live action Ambiguously Gay Duo sketch from this past weekends Saturday Night Live. It's not all that funny, but the cameos are fun to watch.

AHHHH!!! AHHHHHHH!!! DEMON!!!! IT'S A DEMON!!!!! BURN IT BEAT IT KILL IT DEAD!!!!

THIS is the Epic Meal Time episode that almost made me throw up at my desk. I'm totally fine with all the meat stuff, but I don't have a sweet tooth like I used to.

This should be a commercial. Parents like me would get one of these for their kids based on this clip alone.

In the past 33 years my parents have owned three beagles, so I have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for them. Here's a video of one who has learned how to catch a ball with his paws.

Can't say this is my favorite Epic Meal Time, but it's not bad.

Not as good as Dick in a Box, but I think I like 3-Way better than Motherlover.

I recently had a Parks and Recreation marathon and was pleased and surprised when Louis C.K. showed up. It really made me miss his show. But it's coming back next month! Yay!

New trailer for the new season of True Blood. I got a little giddy.

Okay, I was really prepared not to enjoy the latest installment of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. It's wo actors who can be over-the-top, and I expected them to out over-the-top each other to the point of eye rolling. Didn't happen. The stuff with the food and John Hamm was briliant.

Backed-Up Constitutional

I hadn't seen the Samwell "What What" video until Tosh.0 this past season, and as much as I mean to, I've never seen Mad Men. Having said that, I think this video is awesome.

And let's follow that with a nice little Mad Men/Pulp Fiction mash-up, again with some Don Draper "what?"s.

I like Justin Timberlake, and this looks pretty funny, but I saw a split second of a cast dance scene, so that has me worried. I don't like that.

And I REALLY like Natalie Portman, but I REALLY hate Ashton Kutcher. Oh, decisions decisions.

Jason Sudeikis is one of the best things about Saturday Night Live (is he even still on it? I don't watch it anymore.). He was great on 30 Rock, and he had a recent great guest shot on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Here he is with Owen Wilson in a new movie that I can kinda get behind.

My son is going to be SOOOOO excited when I tell him about the sequel to Cars. Is it just me, or does it look like an extended version of a "'Mater's Tall Tales" short? Those are pretty awesome, but I think their brevity lends a bit to the awesomeness.

Say what you want about the man, Alec Baldwin is a great and funny actor.

I'm not expecting the Green Lantern movie to be as awesome as Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, but I want it to be good. Really good. And this trailer LOOKS good. The graphics and characters and everything LOOK good. But oh my God the dialogue is the most hackneyed, gag-inducing crap that I've heard. Because I'm currently a pretty big GL fan and I'm a HUGE Ryan Reynolds fan, this needs to be good. But I hope there's more to the rest of the movie than the "gems" chosen for this trailer. Oh, and Blake Lively is hot.

I <3 this movie so hard right now.
Cowboys & Aliens. Sounds ridiculous, looks awesome.

Here's the trailer for The Mechanic, a remake of a 1973 Charles Bronson film. It's stars Jason Statham, who I'm a fan of.

I had an extremely shitty day on Thursday, and this was the pick-me-up I needed.

In honor of the new Harry Potter movie, here's Hogwarts Hangover.

Exhausted Video Dump

I've been a fan of Paramore since Riot! dropped in 2007, and I've just started appreciating Kings of Leon. It doesn't hurt that I can consider both bands "local" since they're both from Tennessee (Paramore got together in Franklin, and I'm pretty sure KoL are from Knoxville). I'm also a sucker for covers.

I didn't watch this year's Peoples Choice Awards, but I did vote...although I can't remember if I voted for Steve Carell, though. Here's his acceptance speach.

Right now, Kick Ass is way ahead of Iron Man 2 as "superhero movie I most want to see." Here's the latest trailer.

Justin Timberlake and Andy Samburg got me to enjoy this song. Glee made me thoroughly sick of the song. Now, thanks to the Andy Griffith theme song, I can enjoy this song. Here's Single Ladies (In Mayberry).

Ah, what the hell. Here's the Timberlake/Beyonce skit from SNL.

If I'm not mistaken (and c'mon, how often does THAT happen?), Better Off Ted was the absolute best new sitcom to premiere last season, and it's still one of my favorite shows this year. ABC is really stepping up with their sitcoms. Anyways, here are some outtakes from one of the episodes. WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!!!! There is INCREDIBLY vulgar language in this clip. Words I don't even say. So proceed with caution and with no kids around.

Black Snake Moan (Movie Review)

First off, I wasn’t expecting Justin Timberlake. I’m coming into this movie knowing two things and two things only. First, it stars Christina Ricci and Sam Jackson, and second, at some point Sam keeps Christina chained up in the yard.

So yeah, there’s Justin Timberlake in his cammos, lookin’ like he’s shippin’ out. I like Justin Timberlake. There. I said it, and it’s on the interwebs, so I can’t take it back. I like about half of his music, and I’ve enjoyed what little acting I’ve seen him do (Saturday Night Live and some movie with Sarah Michelle Gellar and The Rock).

Ah, Sam Jackson. Regardless of his haircut or whatever facial hair he might have, however he’s dressed, whatever type of character he’s supposed to be playing, he is always the same. I don’t mind that, though. While it could be argued that Pulp Fiction is the best thing he’s ever done or been in, I still enjoy him as an actor. A blues singer, though, not so much.

I also can’t pass up a decent Christina Ricci movie, providing it ain’t too weird. I find her oddly alluring, big forehead and all. She’s very white trash in this movie.

First and foremost, this is a movie about redemption, about facing down your demons and walking away, maybe not unscathed, but walking away a little better for having done it. Other than a preacher and the Lt. from Law & Order, everybody in this movie is screwed up somehow.

Christina’s character, Rae, has an abusive past that leaves her a sexual addict. Not a girl who likes to have sex a lot, but a girl who NEEDS it, who starts having withdrawal symptoms if she goes too long without it.

Sam Jackson’s character, Lazarus, is a former blues guitarist, a farmer, and a drunk whose wife left him for his brother. He finds Rae one morning lying in the road in front of his house. She was stoned, beaten, almost raped, and kicked out of pickup truck. Lazarus is of course concerned and wants to help this poor girl, so he takes her inside, cleans her wounds, gets some medicine for her cough, and then chains her to the radiator. Good fun!

I don’t know if I can really recommend this movie in good conscience. I don’t feel like I wasted two hours by watching it, but I figure others might feel that way. I realize that redemption shouldn’t be an easy road to walk, but damn, Lazarus and Rae sure don’t take any shortcuts. If you do end up watching it, be prepared to slog through some rough shit, some juvenile, high-school, misogynistic shit, before getting to any semblance of a movie that might be worth something. You’ll see Christina Ricci’s tits, you’ll see some attempted rape, a bit of drug use, some light kidnapping, and some bondage with a big-ass chain. But there is some hope. And that’s what we’re left with. Not a handful of fully healed people, but some people who are on their way to being healed.
