The opening credits for The Office in the style of the opening credits for Dallas. They should have used this when doing the garage sale episode last season.



Jonah Hill's new movie The Sitter seems quite funny. Kind of looks like Adventures in Babysitting, except a lot dirtier. Also, since I'm such a kind a giving soul, turn your speakers down when the preview starts, or make sure you're not at work...like I was.

I wouldn't watch this version of Star Wars, but I'd watch this video one more time. A girl who has never seen the original trilogy tries to explain what happened.



I did not expect this to go where it went.



I would play this game.



I will watch Paul Rudd in anything, especially a Funny or Die video.

Every time Kanye West opens his mouth, I want to punch it. I dig some of his music, though. And I like Jay-Z a lot more. So I'm not totally against this new collaboration, and I kind of like the song...that is until the end when Kanye just starts screaming in a little girl voice.



If you can get past the EXTREME!!!! douchiness of the two performers (one moreso than the other), this is some pretty awesome music. Cello duets of pop/rock songs. I think "Smells Like Teen Spirit" really works on the cello.





I'm not a huge magic fan, but I appreciate a good trick...sorry, ILLUSION, because we all know what tricks are. Here are a couple that fool even the great Penn and Teller.





With all the shit I've been through the past two years, it makes me feel very happy that I still believe in love. This video of this surprise wedding is awesome and touching and it gives me faith that love does exist (despite what Bleu sings), and y'know, I'm SOOO looking forward to finding it again.



And then there's this proposal from Chicago Comic Con this year. You can't hear the proposal unless you turn your speakers up all the way, but that doesn't matter. You need to watch it for the end. Fucking epic.



Well, it had to happen. Epic Meal Time finally did a bad video. Looks like they just kind of phoned this one in. I like them because they create these awesome (one might say epic, even) meals, but that was not the case this time.



The 25 Greatest Unscripted Scenes in Film. Makes me want to go back and watch The Dark Knight again.

My uncle shared this video with me and labeled it the ultimate in karaoke. I will admit, this is clever as hell.



Why have I not watched any of the non-album tracks from The Lonely Island?



I kind of have to see Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance because I really like Idris Elba, but was a sequel really necessary? Or wanted? I will say this, the effects look pretty damn awesome.



Here's a super-cut song made up of movie lines that rhyme. The amount of time it must have taken to edit this was, well, I won't say it was worth it. Let's just hope the guy wasn't supposed to be doing something more important.

The Portal video game series has never interested me, but this video is pretty awesome.

This verbal smack-down of Chris Brown was great.



I was so disappointed when I heard that Locke & Key was not picked up. I know a pilot was finished, and I know it was screened at SDCC this year. I hope that it somehow becomes available to the public. Until then, here's the trailer for what we can't watch.

This new show from Ricky Gervais starring Warwick Davis looks great. I'm thinking more Extras than The Office. Now I want to rewatch Extras.

Small Video Dump

This is why I watch The Soup every week, for little comedy gems such as this (as opposed to Danielle Fishel, the only reason I watch the pretty much unfunny The Dish). This has got something for Lost fans, for 24 fans, and for Community fans, as well as for those who just like to laugh.



C'MON!!! I defy you to not laugh at this video. I don't want to ruin it, but it starts off as a Valentine's Day fluff piece by some news channel. Apparently there are some animals in love or something. Then, something incredible happens. It must be seen.



I thoroughly, THOROUGHLY dislike Russell Brand. But Jonah Hill can be pretty funny, and this movie, Get Him to the Greek, looks like it could be a really funny movie.



I really enjoy Demitri Martin, but I don't often find his show laugh-out-loud funny. This skit, though, was pretty hilarious. Not so much the dog all dressed up, but Demitri's reaction to it each time.

From the creators of 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, you sort of expect this to be a laugh-out-loud movie, but it’s not. It is, though, a great movie. You can really see an evolution between this and the other two movies. Virgin was very much a juvenile movie. You’ve got knee slappers and LOLs. Knocked Up was a bit more grown up, few if any knee slappers, but it was still a very funny movie. This one, though, was a very adult comedy.

There’s a very sad and heart-wrenching story behind all the stand up and jokes. Adam Sandler brings it. He does all the stuff that makes his other movies juvenile and stupid, but it’s very meta here, a really incredible performance. It’s like seeing Steve Martin in Parenthood, Jim Carey in Man in the Moon, or Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society. I know there were a couple of serious movies before this, I didn’t see those. Sometimes you get wary when a known comedian goes in a different direction. This is a good transition movie for Sandler. He’s a comedian, and yes, he’s pretty funny at times, but there’s this subtext. No matter what he’s doing, you can see it in the way he walks, in his face, in everything he does.

Seth Rogen didn’t really do it for me in any serious scenes. His stand-up scenes are great, and they feel natural, but his serious scenes with Sandler didn’t work. The restaurant scene was particularly brutal, and not because of the subject matter. He cries. It’s hideous. Same with writer/director Judd Apatow’s wife Leslie Mann.

The cameos are great. A ton of comedians show up, including Sarah Silverman, Paul Riser, Andy Dick and others. One of the best (and slightly surreal) exchanges is between Eminem and Ray Romano. Yeah, Eminem. And James Taylor gets to toss out a dick joke. Jason Schwartzman and Jonah Hill are great in their sidekick roles.

This is a very adult comedy with equal parts humor, heart and pathos. I highly recommend it. And as a little bonus, here's a deleted scene from the movie. If you're reading this on Facebook, visit my blog to watch the clip.

Rocket Science (Movie Review)

Backed by a soundtrack that includes a number of classic Violent Femmes songs, this is a beautiful, touching, awkward movie about acceptance, love, social misfits, and revenge. At first glance, this may look like a somewhat typical movie about an attractive high school girl using a geek and/or outcast to further he own academic agenda, ultimately falling for said geek and/or outcast, thus humanizing her and bringing him out of his socially awkward shell. Most of the movie is over by the time that you realize this isn’t a romantic teen comedy or follows that model.

This is a movie you can actually imagine happening, if not to you, then possibly to someone you know. Yes, it has its quirks. Our hero, Hal, has a horrible stutter. Hal’s school-appointed speech councilor doesn’t actually know anything about speech disorders, but could kill if Hal was hyperactive. The romantic lead, Ginny, is driven by a fierce desire to win a trophy that she believes was unceremoniously taken from her the previous year when her debate partner, Ben, choked during the state finals. Hal’s brother is a klepto who just seems slightly off, but we’re never really sure why.

Rocket Science is refreshing in that it doesn’t conform to the standards set by most romantic teen comedies. Spoiler alert! The guy doesn’t get the girl at the end. I’m sorry, but if that’s what you’re hoping for, prepare to be disappointed. This is more real. It really hits you when all the pieces fall into place and you realize what’s been going on. And while the ending may not be typical, our two leads, Hal and Ginny, do learn things, things about themselves and about the world, about love and about life, and about how it’s all just a bit of a bitch.

This is a very simple movie wonderfully brought to life by great performances. It’s a perfect movie to watch on a gray and rainy day, when nothing is going on and you can be free to just take it all in.
