The Dark Knight Rises - Official Trailer #3 [HD]

Between this, The Avengers, and Amazing Spider-Man, this is going to be an incredibly awesome summer of movies for comic book fans. I've already got my tickets for an IMAX 3D showing of the Avengers on Friday. Yay! And as much of a Spider-Man fan as I am (c'mon, I named my first kid after him), I'm more excited about The Dark Knight Rises than ASM. When I watch the trailers for this movie, I get the feeling that I HAVE to see the movie. With Spider-Man, I just really WANT to see it.

The Dark Knight Rises - Movie Trailers - iTunes

I'm REALLY looking forward to this movie, but this trailer didn't do it for me like the first trailer for the previous movie. Also, I don't like Bane's look. Granted, his comic book look is incredibly silly, but that damn mask he's wearing looks awful. Still, I'll be seeing this on IMAX.

Clean Shaven Video Constitutional

Nathan Fillion on Conan last week. I want to be best friends with this guy.

Damn, looks like I've got to go vote for the People's Choice Awards now. Thanks a lot, Christy!

So apparently Donald Glover hangs out with puppets? You can't see him in the video, but you can hear him. Sounds like he's the one with the camera.

I don't think this video is all that creative, but some of it is pretty funny. It's two guys at Target trying to get help finding various made-up items.

Has Liam Neeson alway been a badass, or was Taken a shift for him? Whatever the reason, I like him in roles like this. Here's the trailer for his latest film, The Grey.

Oh, HELLS yes! A horror movie written by Joss Whedon? I'll be seeing this in the theater, thank you. No Netflix or Redbox for me on this one. And it's got Topher from Dollhouse in it. Nice to see Whedon giving some work to someone he's already worked with. You don't see that much. /sarcasm

I'll sign an online petition to save Community, but that's about it. After having my heart broken by the likes of Firefly, Arrested Development and Terriers, I realize that good shows sometimes get cancelled. But sure, I'll sign a petition. And post funny videos.

Will Ferrell made some Old Milwaukee commercials for some reason. Sure, why not?

I just found out that American Psycho is getting a remake, and I wanted to share my favorite scene from the movie. I really like Christian Bale. I love Huey Lewis and the News. I love Christian Bale deconstructing Huey Lewis and the News with such a smile. And I love Christian Bale's fancy footwork right before going at Jared Leto with an axe. There are more monolouges following the HL&tN one, which are almost just as good, but this is my favorite. Be warned, there's blood and some language, but I think it's worth it.

American Psycho - Pop Monologues from laviesportive on Vimeo.

Jason Segel. Alison Brie as a Brit. Andy from Parks and Recreation. The same guy who did Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek. This is a romantic comedy I can get behind.

"Thunderstruck" is far and away my favorite AC/DC song. It just pumps you up. So yeah, I'm probably going to like it in a Star Wars mash-up.

Okay, this mash-up of Star Wars and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas made me smile.

If I just say, "Star Wars cello duel," will that be enough to get you to view this video? Musically, it's awesome, and visually, it's surprising.

THIS is why I haven't gotten my kids Kinectimals for our (my) XBox.

Like Pulp Fiction? Ever wanted to see it chronological order? Neither did I, but apparently somebody did. They recut the movie and put the whole damn thing on YouTube. So, here it is.

Also, in case you've forgotten: When I can remember to add this to the bottom of my posts, I’m going to whore myself out with an impassioned plea: click on the ads. PLEASE click on the ads. I don’t care if you exit out of it immediately or actually look around. This isn’t some professional blog where I believe in the products I’m shilling. These are automatic ads placed by Google. But when you click ads, I get a little bit of money, and as a single father of three, every penny from every source helps...especially with Christmas looming on the horizon. So I’m going to keep this tiny bit of begging at the bottom of my posts, and I hope you’ll take an extra 10 seconds after reading my blog to click on an ad. The only thing it costs you is time. :) Thanks so much!

In-Like-a-Lion Constitutional (now with added tiger blood!)

The Green Machine from George Mason University playing Rage Against the Machine. Frickin' awesome!

I kinda think this mega-rant is a bit slow (as far as mega-rants go) until Christian Bale shows up. Then it's a fun little romp.

I'm loving this massive breakdown or whatever is happening to Charlie Sheen. I'm loving the memes and the quotes and the mash-ups. How about a little Darth Sheen?

Game of Thrones trailer. Hopefully I'll be able to watch this on Netflix or Hulu Plus since I don't have HBO. Looks pretty awesome. Never read the books.

Here's the auto-tuned segement from The Oscars. Solid all around, but the Facebook and Twilight sections are the best.

New Epic Meal Time! Epic energy bar!

Let's throw in some Epic Meal Time deleted scenes.

OMG!! It's the leaked season finale of Two and a Half Men!!

As the guy who posted this on Facebook said, "Guitarded." Rhapsody in Blue is by far my favorite Gershwin piece, and probably one of my favorite orchestral pieces of all time. I introduced my kids to it this weekend via Fantasia 2000, and they were mesmerized. These guys and this arrangement are awesome.

Here's the piece from Fantasia 2000.

A promo from the dead-in-the-water Buffy the Vampire Slayer animated series. "There are things in the dark. Dark things." That's about the worst line I've ever heard, and I watch a lot of bad TV. It would have felt more tongue-in-cheek had Buffy actually commented on it. Otherwise, with the animation style and music, I kept expecting Batman to show up in the beginning. The library scene really took me back to the early days, though. I would've watched this.

Video Dump

An awesome "You're mom is a whore" joke turns into a pretty frank discussion of homosexuality between a group of straight guys and their gay friend. I know this is scripted TV, but it seems like a real conversation. You've got the one really uncomfortable guy, your curious friends, and you actually learn something. Well, I did.

Here's the only version of Twilight I would ever watch.

Here's Lindsay Lohan getting sentenced to 90 days in jail. Her reaction to what the judge is saying is just awesome. Will time in jail do her any good, or will she even serve the entire term? Don't care. At least she was actually punished for BREAKING THE DAMN LAW!

One of my buddies has been sending me info on the new Star Wars TomTom developments, so that's not new to me. But this video showing Vader's recording session is, and it's hilarious.

Mel Gibson vs. Christian Bale. 'Nuff said.

The first trailer of Red looked kind of cute and quirky. This trailer makes the movie look incredibly awesome. It's kind of like a geriatric version of The Losers, and with the cast assembled (even Ernest Borgnine!) I can live with that.

Equilibrium (Movie Review)

I first saw this movie in 2003 or 2004, shortly after Christian Bale was announced as the new Batman. I wasn’t familiar with him (I had seen American Psycho, but at the time he was a nobody to me), and this movie caught my eye in the video store. It’s an action flick, and I wanted to get a read on Bale to see if I could believe him as Batman. After watching it, I not only thought he’d play the part well, from then on I couldn’t imagine anyone else as the Caped Crusader. This review is based on my second viewing. The Dark Knight has been out for five or six weeks now, and it’s still bringing money in. I think it’s around the billion dollar mark worldwide. I wanted to watch it again to see if my opinion changed any.

Quickly: after WW III, it is realized that the cause of man’s inhumanity to man, which inevitably leads to war, is emotion, feeling. So anything beautiful, anything that would cause anyone to feel any type of emotion, whether it be joy or sadness or rage or jealousy, is banned, confiscated, and destroyed. This includes music, literature, art...even color judging from the shades of gray that permeate the movie. To ensure that the world population stays senseless, all are required to take regular doses of a chemical that inhibits the mind. Those who refuse to submit and secretly hoard these banned items are considered sense traitors and are either killed or...rehabilitated.

The first thing I noticed were the actors I wasn’t familiar with at the time, but know pretty well now. Dominic Purcell and William Fitchner, both now on the Fox hit TV show Prison Break, are here. We’ve also got Sean Bean, who I wouldn’t have been able to recognize had it not been for a little movie called The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and there’s also Emily Watson.

For something so dark thematically and visually, this was truly a beautiful movie to watch. There’s a term for a certain kind of comic book (and I think the name OF a comic book) called "gun fu." It’s the term I immediately thought of when I first saw the anonymous actor (which I found out was actually the director) doing what looked to be tai chi with an automatic pistol in each hand. Watching the Grammatons (sense enforcers) eliminate the sense offenders is like watching an evil, sadistic ballet. The grace and fluidity with which these soldiers kill is stunning, and it blows your mind a little when you realize that you just found the killing of another human being a thing of beauty, if just for a second or two. I’d like to watch a behind-the-scenes bit about the fight scenes, showing the actual speed that rather than the obviously sped-up speed we saw in the movie.

I thought the death of Sean Bean’s character was poetic. As Grammaton John Preston (Bale’s character) brings his weapon to bear on Bean’s face (after realizing that Bean, a fellow Grammaton, was a sense offender), Bean slowly raises his book (a book of verse by Yeats, I believe) to block out the weapon, ensuring that the last thing he’ll see is something so beautiful, which is now outlawed in the interest of world safety.

It’s frightening to watch Preston’s son. When you watch a dystopian future such as this, you expect to see the adults acting like this, cold and emotionless when a spouse is taken away and killed for sense offense, knowing it was the right thing to do. Burning books, records, and even the Mona Lisa doesn’t come as a shock. But when you see a seven-year-old boy interrogating his father after his morning’s dose is shattered, or turning in his friend for sense offense because he saw him cry...it’s horrific.

As far as movies dealing with dystopian futures go, the premise was pretty generic. The execution, however, was masterfully carried out. Any fan of Bale, especially as the Batman, should love him in this. Taye Diggs, who I thought was brilliant in Daybreak, the short-lived series on ABC, was also very good. Sean Bean wasn’t in the movie all that long, but his character was very important, as was Emily Watson’s, who did manage to get more screen time than Bean.

This is a movie I plan on watching again, and I would hope you would give it a try.
